Ireland’s biggest gaming festival, Insomnia Gaming Festival, have announced Jigsaw as it’s official charity partner
The partnership will involve using Insomnia Gaming Festival, taking place this November 9th & 10th at the RDS Dublin, to promote and increase awareness of the work being done by Jigsaw in supporting young people’s mental health in Ireland.
Joanne Ryan, Campaign Officer with Jigsaw said “Jigsaw are really excited to partner with Insomnia Dublin this November. Over the past year we have seen a huge increase in “gaming for good” style fundraising and awareness events and we look forward to meeting the attendees of Insomnia, and their families, to engage more on the subject of gaming and mental health. Members of our Youth Advisory Panel, all active in the gaming community, will be on hand to chat to attendees about the work we do in Jigsaw, and how we can support gamers to look after their own mental health, and that of their friends.”
The partnership between the two organisations has developed in recognition of the valuable role gaming can play in developing good mental health in young people.
Announcing Jigsaw as official charity partner, Director of Insomnia Dublin Colm Sharkey said: “Jigsaw are delivering a vital service to the community through the provision of important mental health services to young people. We are delighted to be able to support those activities through this great partnership. We’re really looking forward to the festival in November which will allow Jigsaw meet and interact with our 6,000 visitors.”
A number of joint initiatives will take place over the course of gaming festival, including a live stage panel discussion regarding gaming and mental health.
